FL -- Tampa, FL area
The Temple Terrace HomeLink program has been temporarily suspended. We are looking for a new Director and a larger facility.
WHAT HAPPENED at the TAMPA HOMELINK ?
When LaWanda Sutherland retired as Director, HomeLink offered the position to the Assistant Director. When the Assistant Director accepted the promotion, it was announced to the applause of over one hundred people at a HomeLink event on April 20.
After about 2 weeks, she abandoned her commitment to HomeLink and, instead, began her own competing company: she resigned from HomeLink, hired some of the HomeLink instructors, announced that HomeLink was closing the Tampa program, and she advertised her almost-identical program to many. She sent email broadcasts and letters.
The actions she took have confused many families. Some parents have reported choosing their classes from her program believing they were selecting from the HomeLink program.
----> The classes being promoted for the Temple Terrace location are NOT HomeLink classes.
----> Those classes are NOT part of NARHS and will NOT receive high school credit as the HomeLink classes do.
----> HomeLink has NOT left the Tampa area: HomeLink has temporarily suspended the program during the search for a new Director and a larger facility.
----> HomeLink regrets that years of trust, training, and confidential information invested in the Assistant Director are now being used to compete with HomeLink.
If you have suggestions, comments, or concerns, please contact April Thome, National Director of HomeLink, at 509-248-6388. Or, email April ----> athome@HomelinkEducation.org
