And more tragically, we are losing our Christian young people to alien worldviews that dominate popular culture and the college campus. Through this study, students will understand how certain ideas comprise a worldview’s content and give it form. Students will know the truth of their worldview.

Beginning with the art of ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia we will create a time line in order to visualize the time and place certain art trends occurred. Studying why different styles were developed, we will come to understand how religion, philosophy and historical events has influenced art throughout the ages, and how the world’s history influenced the art of its time. This helps us to better appreciate the art we are familiar with, and introduces us to new and exciting areas of art. Understanding the history of an era, regarding its politics, religion and economics, will help the art of these periods come alive as they create a window into the past. The fine art instruction will allow the student to work in an independent and investigative manner by applying principles of line, color and composition as well as working in various media like pencil, charcoal, egg tempera, acrylic and collage/assemblage. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to recognize major works of art and will understand the art historical context of a variety of works of art based on subject matter, artistic style and medium. Our goal is to equip the student with skills that allow them to better understand history by viewing major works of art and in the process enjoy, make and appreciate art, for art’s sake.

Creation Art (Fine art): Creation Art is a unique series of classes teaching the principles of fine art, building upon communication and relationship. The curriculum is based on Gods Word, the Bible; our spiritual foundation as well as our source of inspiration, creating a link between artistic objectives & biblical insight. Because man is made in the image of God, our Creator has also given us the skills & the imagination to be creative. The teaching is designed to unlock hidden talent, draw out unrealized skill & encourage the fountain of creativity that is in each one of us.

The Origins (Fall Semester)

Based on the 7 days of Creation we will lay the foundation for the fundamentals in art. As God created the earth we will learn about the circle, square, triangle & line. As God separated the light from darkness the students will be taught about light/dark contrast. As God brought forth vegetation & the solar system was created we will study the shape of nature. As God created animals and man, size, proportion & basic drawing skills will be taught. And lastly as God rested & saw all was good we will make the spiritual connection, illustrate the day of rest and enjoy our creations.

The Rainbow (Fall Semester)

This session will focus on color theory, the use of color & how color works as a messenger. The story about Noah and the Ark and Gods promise in the form of a rainbow will be the introduction to color. While using primary, secondary & tertiary colors we will do exercises in mixing. Complementing & harmonizing color & it's use in various artwork. By the end of the class we will have painted several paintings using the above principles.

His Table (Spring Semester)

We will use the passage from the Last Supper, a table well dressed for the Passover meal as inspiration for drawing & painting still lifes. Building on the knowledge of the previous sessions, the students will continue to first exercise their "contour line" in drawing objects, second understand & apply positive & negative space in composition through working with design elements and third learn how contrasts between light & dark gives 3 D form to an object.

Man (Spring Semester)

God made man in His own image according to His likeness, out of the dust he was formed. The focus of this session is learning how to draw the human form by recognizing the basic shape of our body parts & understanding their proportional relationship. Adding volume & movement will present an alternative way to the infamous stick figure drawing. New Testament accounts of Jesus' teaching will serve as a source of inspiration for drawing people standing in crowds, sitting & lying. We will also study facial features & make portraits of each other in pencil & mono print.
